Mrs. Dizon

Dear scholars and parents,
Welcome to fifth grade! Wow, the summer flew by fast! I am excited about my move to fifth grade.  It’s going to be a fantastic year!

For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Mrs. Dizon.  My husband and I have a 24 year old son named Mitch and an Australian Shepherd named Rio.  I have been teaching for 32 years. I have masters plus 30 from North Greenville College and the University of South Carolina.  I taught 5th through 8th grade for 28 years in Columbia, SC.  For the past four years I have taught sixth grade ELA and social studies.  This will be my 5th year at Sanders Clyde.

I will be teaching ELA and social studies to your scholars.  In ELA we will work on reading skills, writing, and word study.  Vocabulary is a very important part of the ELA program.  Vocabulary opens many doors to your reading comprehension and fluency.  It also helps with your development as a writer.

Our social studies starts with a review of the Civil War then we move on to Reconstruction after the Civil War through present day.  It’s a very exciting time period—westward expansion, the roaring twenties, the Great Depression, the Jazz era, Harlem Renaissance, and much more.

Once again, WELCOME and I look forward to having you in my ELA & social studies classes.
