We are going to focus our efforts on performing at State Choir Clinics, and State Band Solo &Ensemble Contest. At the clinics, you get to meet a lot of students in choirs from all around the district and state. You will also get the opportunity to sing in a larger choir, and experience the pieces that we are rehearsing in a different light. We will also prepare music to be sung at different events that the city or our school partners might be hosting throughout year, and would like us to sing for.
In the spring, we will be working closely with the dance and drama classes, to prepare a musical for Arts in the Lowcountry Week. All students will be strongly encouraged to participate in the State Solo & Ensemble Contest at Cane Bay High School on April 29, 2016. Here, students will prepare a solo with piano accompaniment or create a small ensemble of two to three other students to prepare a small ensemble piece. These are performed in front of a judge, and critiqued according to how well the piece(s) were prepared.
If a student wanting to use a school owned instrument, they and their parent must set up a one-on-one meeting with Mr. Frazier.
Listen to some of the pieces that we will be singing this year in Choir!
